Interview: Hakim Bey: Sexual Revolutionaries and the Temporary Autonomous Zone.
Alex Megelas - 12/15/2007

This is an interview with Hakim Bey: mystic, revolutionary and writer of TAZ, The Temporary Autonomous Zone, Ontological Anarchic, Poetic Terrorism (2003). Bey defines the TAZ as a revolutionary action that challenges the hegemonic hold of the State over Time and Space. In relationto the State, the TAZ as a means of uprising becomes "the forbidden moment, an unforgivable denial of the dialectic." (98): immediate acts of defiance, spontaneous and diverse in makeup yet forever linked to a history of dissidents acting outside of the social norm. In the interview, Bey discusses how the TAZ allows for a clearer understanding of the link between contemporary sexual revolutionaries and those associated with 17th and 18th century Caribbean piracy.

The interview was conducted by Alex Megelas.
